Journal der Künste

Journal der Künste

The Journal der Künste gives an insight into what is currently being created at the Akademie der Künste: it shows the diverse aesthetic perspectives, approaches and forms of production from the Akademie's archive and from the sections. We redesigned the magazine in 2023. An extensive editorial section contains essays, lectures, artistic interventions, commentaries and cultural-political debates. There are also regular sections such as “News from the archive”, “Findings” and “Carte blanche”.

Journal der Künste 23

The first issue of the Journal der Künste under the presidency of Manos Tsangaris and Anh-Linh Ngo focuses on artistic freedom: the contributions by Lena Gorelik, Ralf Michaels and Carsten Wurm, among others, address the defense of artistic autonomy from various perspectives. Further contributions provide insights into the genesis of the current exhibitions and the work of the archive.

Journal der Künste 22

Issue 22 of the Journal der Künste bids farewell to Jeanine Meerapfel with an interview and Kathrin Röggla with a literary text from the Presidium of the Akademie der Künste. With Matěj Spurný, Eva von Redecker and Iris ter Schiphorst, it addresses the possibility of utopias in a time of multi-perspective crises.

Journal der Künste 21

The first issue we designed in 2023 dealt with issues of sustainability with texts and photo series on the exhibition “The Great Repair”. There are also literary contributions by Ulrike Draesner and Cécile Wajsbrot, conversations with Luc Tuymans and Gundula Schulze Eldowy and short essays by Anna Hetzer and Moshtari Hilal.
