Oscillations. Cape Town–Berlin Sonic Inquiries and Practices
The exhibition at the Akademie der Künste presents newly created sound installations by ten artists from South Africa and Germany. They are the result of a two-year process of residencies, workshops and continuous exchange. We designed the identity for the festival.
The artists use sound to express a differentiated view of current issues in South Africa. Some of the installations will be activated by the artists in performances on the evening of the exhibition opening, while others invite the audience to interact or create their own pieces.
The title Oscillations refers to the space in which oscillations unfold, bundle and reflect and in which we perceive them by listening. We also referred to this in the design of the identity: the oscillations in the typography represent a clear reference to the thematic focus of the events.
