Träume von Freiheit
For the exhibition ‘Träume von Freiheit. Romantik in Russland und Deutschland’ at the Albertinum of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, we developed the key visual and the exhibition communication in collaboration with Silva Baum.
The motif we designed intertwines two of the most important paintings of Russian Romanticism: the portrait of the poet Vasily Zhukovsky by Orest Kiprensky and the depiction of lightning striking an oak tree by Maxim Vorobiov. It shows the turmoil of the subject in a time of political crises and the power of art to counter it with its own visual worlds and related social utopias.
